looking
looking is a projection-based installation that considers the gridded interface of Grindr - one that is equally self-indulgent and utilitarian, displaying near unbridled sexual expression while visually putting people into boxes. Projections onto glass blocks reference both the illuminated glass of a touchscreen and the tenuous privacy of a bathroom window, connecting the digital, physical and emotional spaces within which queer identity operates in a contemporary context.
